Description

A deservedly famous and sought after Chinese Oolong tea. The name translates to Big Red Robe.  This oolong is only produced in the Wuyi mountain area of Fujian province China.  This oolong is best prepared Gong Fu style.  You will experience intense flavors, a hint of dried fruits, and a long finish.  As you enjoy multiple infusions, notice how the taste lingers on your tongue.

Caffeine Level: Medium.

Learn More:
Oolong teas are commonly known as partially oxidized because the oxidation allowed in processing varies between that of a green tea and that of a black. Varying between 30-70% oxidation, oolongs are produced into two main varieties: a darker, open-leafed style (such as our Da Hong Pao), and a greener, rolled-ball style (such as our Jade Oolong). Darker oolongs tend to have a soft, fruity character with undertones of stone fruit. Greener oolongs offer a more green infusion with a more floral character.

This has become my go-to tea at work. It helps to ease my headaches. I have a single cup kettle, and the perfect filtered water. I have learned to let the water cool just a bit before adding to the leaves. I only steep a few minutes and reuse the leaves a few times. Too much time and it's a more bitter taste. Well brewed, the sweetness is perfect to hold on my tongue. Warm and comforting.

Delicious!

I enjoy the stronger tasting, more oxidized oolong teas, and this is the best yet that I've sampled from Tea Smith.
